FREE PATTERN: A perfect, quick and easy crochet scrunchie!

By Lythicia Bali, owner of Balys

About a year ago, I made these Mohair scrunchies as gifts for co-workers and it was a hit! They are quick to crochet (about an hour) and add the perfect touch to any look! In this article, I'll show you the easy steps to make it and you can also check out my video tutorial on youtube, I'll leave you the link at the bottom of the blog! Have a good read and happy crocheting 💕

Pin this for later!

MATERIAL:

- Yarn: I used the Zambezi 2ply by Fleece Artist (70% Mohair et 30% silk) but you can use any other yarn that you have at home.

- US7 - 4,5mm crochet hook

- Hair elastic

- Scissors

- Tapestry needle

LET'S GO!

Chain 57 stitches, add 3 stitches (counts as the first double crochet)

  1. Crochet a double crochet (dc) in the 4th stitch from hook, then a dc in every following stitches. Chain 2 stitches and turn your work.

  2. Crochet a double crochet (dc) in the 3rd stitch from hook, then a dc in every following stitches. Chain 2 stitches and turn your work.

Repeat row 2 four other times or until desired length. You should have a rectangle. Mine is approximately 30 x 7-8 centimeters.

Fold your rectangle in half and put the elastic inside. Single crochet in both stitches (front stitch and back stitch) to close the scrunchie. Then, sew the ends of the rectangle together to finish the scrunchie and weave the ends.

The last step can be tricky to understand, here's a video tutorial to help you figure it out::

There you go, you just made a beautiful scrunchie!
